Polaroids is an ongoing series that started in 1993. Since then, various polaroid cameras have been my steady companion, documenting recurring themes in my work while also accompanying me on my personal journey. The instant photos are visual notes of what I see and search for. There is a magic quality in how the image appears in the square frame a few moments after capturing the image. This was a powerful experience for me, especially before digital photography was possible. No staging, no edits, just a direct exchange between what I see and what appears, reflecting moments in the outside world and creating with its dreamlike quality, a bridge between the outside world and memory and imagination and play. In the many different themes I have explored, the Polaroids at times served as a kind of documentation of discovery and a witness for me. I will continue to use the Polaroid in its various forms, cameras, and printers. This page will change and evolve, mixing past and present research, projects, and observations.
Polaroids è una serie in continuo divenire iniziata nel 1993. Da allora, diverse fotocamere Polaroid sono state mie compagne costanti, documentando i temi ricorrenti del mio lavoro e accompagnandomi anche nel mio percorso personale. Le foto istantanee sono appunti visivi di ciò che vedo e cerco. C’è una qualità magica nel modo in cui l’immagine appare nel riquadro quadrato pochi istanti dopo lo scatto. È stata un’esperienza molto potente per me, soprattutto prima che la fotografia digitale fosse possibile. Nessuna messa in scena, nessuna modifica – solo uno scambio diretto tra ciò che vedo e ciò che si manifesta, riflettendo momenti del mondo esterno e creando, con la sua qualità onirica, un ponte tra il mondo esterno, la memoria, l’immaginazione e il gioco. Tra i molti temi che ho esplorato, le Polaroid hanno talvolta rappresentato una forma di documentazione della scoperta e sono state per me una sorta di testimone. Continuerò a usare il Polaroid in tutte le sue forme – fotocamere, stampanti, formati. Questa pagina cambierà e si evolverà nel tempo, mescolando ricerche, progetti e osservazioni del passato e del presente.
