On the Branch

When I was home recently helping care for my elderly parents, in the moments in between, I made these small drawings. Sometimes a sort of meditation while waiting in the stillness, prayers, dreams, or simply a way to put my feelings into colors on the paper. I arrived late in the Winter and watched as the Spring slowly arrived. I was inspired by walks around the garden with my father, gathering up flowers to put next to my mother.  I started to know each flower thanks to him and my mother who planted them, I began paying more attenton to each bird song, and these small moments inspired me. Making these small drawings helped me to move through a very surreal time,  something I could turn to to feel hope and simplicity following the colors where they took me. They were a place of refuge for me, a kind of life raft. I am sharing some of these small drawings here.
